Dubai residents and visitors poured into the snow park, located in the new Mall of the Emirates, opting for a quick slalom rather than a typical visit to Dubai's many sandy beaches. Shoppers peered into the frosty wonder from the air-conditioned viewing area of the mall, amazed at this new addition to Dubai's many outlandish attractions. "It's very impressive and incredible, thing is that it happens in a desert, right? So we didn't expect that Dubai can really develop to this stage and of course the Dubai government is saying a lot more unbelievable things are going to be happening in Dubai," said Samuel Tan, a Malaysian business man visiting the flashy Gulf Emirate. Ski Dubai is a 22 500 square meter space that can house over 1500 people and includes a snow board area, bobsleds, a chalet and a large children's park and a snowball target range. The facility is completely covered, blocking the fiercely relentless sunrays known to the region. The harsh climate in the Gulf necessitated a special technology to artificially create the 6000 tons of snow in Ski Dubai, which maintains a temperature between -3 and a nippy -8 degrees Celsius.
